The second and final Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand ended in a thrilling stalemate as both teams kept each other at bay on Day 5 at the National Bank Arena in Karachi. However, it was Pakistan who were in the driver’s seat and were seemed to be cruising towards a famous win chasing 319 with veteran wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed having scored an outstanding 118 runs.
However, the Kiwi bowlers staged a remarkable comeback in the last half an hour of the day’s play where they succeeded in getting the big breakthrough of centurion Sarfaraz who was single-handedly threatening to take the game away from them despite battling cramps.
Even though Sarfaraz was dismissed at the wrong time, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed did not panic as they brought Pakistan 15 runs closer to the target with their fearless power-hitting abilities before bad light played spoilsport and the umpires were forced to call off the play with still three overs left.
The two-match series which was played on the flat wickets has ended at 0-0. Even the series opener had ended in a draw.

Pakistan continue to remain at the seventh position in the points table despite this stalemate and they now have 64 points to their tally at a Points Percentage of 38.1%. New Zealand on the other hand still languish at the eighth position with 36 points to their tally and a PCT of 27.27%. Thus, the reigning WTC holders will not be defending their title this time around.
Bangladesh after their 0-2 whitewash in the home series against India have hit rock bottom as they take the ninth spot with a PCT of a meagre 11.11%. The West Indies are at the sixth position with a Points Percentage of 40.91%. Meanwhile, England who have made tremendous advancements in red-ball cricket in the last six months courtesy of their fearless ‘Bazball’ approach are at the fifth position with a percentage points of 46.97%.
South Africa have already dropped down to the fourth spot following a 0-2 drubbing in the ongoing Test series against Australia have a PCT of exactly 50%. With a points percentage of 53.33%, Sri Lanka take the third position.
After a superb 2-0 victory on Bangladesh soil, Team India is at the second place with a PCT of 58.93%. Having registered back-to-back home Test series victories over West Indies and South Africa, Australia comfortably remain unchallenged at the top spot with a points percentage of 78.57%.
