There is no doubt that ace Indian batter Virat Kohli is one of the best in world cricket. Over the years, the 34-year-old has put forth many exceptional performances and reached the pinnacle of his career. Being one of the most experienced players in the Indian team, Kohli has amassed some very important runs for India over the years.

Furthermore, the 34-year-old is famous for scoring centuries. Having played 512 games for India across formats, Kohli has hit 78 centuries to his name. However, there have been many occasions where the star batter has come very close to scoring a century but was dismissed in the 90s.

Over the course of his career, Virat Kohli has been dismissed in the 90s eight times. Six times in ODIs and twice in Test cricket.

Kohli’s brilliance helps India break New Zealand curse

Talking of team India, the side is currently competing in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, led by Rohit Sharma. India are yet to lose a game in the tournament. The Men in Blue have faced the likes of Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in the tournament so far.

Taking on the Black Caps, the Indian team went into the clash on the back of some nervousness as the side had not beaten New Zealand in the ODI World Cup since 2003. As both sides took on each other in game 21 of the 2023 World Cup, the game began with New Zealand coming in to bat first after losing the toss. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell played brilliant knocks to propel the side to a total of 273 runs in the first innings.

Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket-taker for India in the first innings, taking five wickets. Aiming to chase down the target, it was once again ace batter Virat Kohli who helped India win the game.

Scoring 95 runs in 104 deliveries, Kohli’s knock made history as India defeated New Zealand by four wickets.
