Ace pacer Mohammad Amir has been the talk of the town for his heated rivalry with Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Amir’s in-your-face attitude has made the headlines, especially when he dismissed Babar Azam for 0 during their second match in the season.

Ahead of the tournament, the speedster also commented that bowling to right-handed batters is like bowling to tailenders for him. This sparked a lot of controversies as many believes that it was a hidden message for Babar. In the meantime, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has stated that he enjoys this rivalry and justified why pacers need to be a bit fiery on the field.

“I think we have too much time on our hands. You need characters, you need a bit of rivalry and I am all for it. I am all for Amir, the way he has been saying stuff as a bowler,” said Akram while speaking to Arab News.

We should enjoy it instead of criticising individually and consistently: Wasim Akram

A few weeks ago, during Peshawar’s clash against Karachi, Mohammad Amir threw the ball in anger after Babar Azam hit him for a boundary in the previous ball. Since then, tension is brewing between these two cricketers and it has shown no signs of slowing down.

Wasim, who is also the president of the Karachi side, has stated that these kinds of incidents are required to spice up the competition. He also asked everyone to enjoy it rather than criticizing it from time to time.

“What's the point of going into the PSL game, or any game, and shaking hands with the batter and hugging them? Okay, before the game or after the game, I am all for it but during the game, be professional and these little words off the field also add spice to PSL that's the beauty of PSL. We should enjoy it instead of criticising individually and consistently,” the 56-year-old said.
