'I haven't applied, I won't be applying' - Andy Flower reveals he is not interested in India head coach job

Amid a flurry of speculations about Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach of Team India coming to an end, another significant development has emerged. Recent days have been a tumultuous journey to keep pace with, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India made headlines by inviting applications for the head coach position. Meanwhile, various cricketing personalities, including former Australian legend Ricky Ponting, have shown apprehension about assuming the role.

Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's devastating loss to the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 Eliminator, which resulted in their elimination after a four-wicket defeat, RCB's head coach, Andy Flower, emphatically stated in the post-match press conference that he had not applied for the position, which has a deadline of May 27, and reiterated that he would not be applying either. He expressed his satisfaction and contentment with his current involvement within the franchise framework and indicated that he would like to be bonded with that particular setup for the time being.

"I haven't applied. I won't be applying. I am happy with my involvement in the franchise game at the moment," expressed Flower.

Following five years as head coach for England, during which he was one of the integral members of the think tank to orchestrate a famous 1-2 away victory in the four-match Test series against India, the former Zimbabwean cricketer made his mark in the franchise circuit by starting off as batting coach for Peshawar Zalmi in 2016. Flower's career saw a significant upturn in 2020 when he took on the head coach positions for Multan Sultans and St Lucia Zouks, alongside serving as assistant coach for the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). He subsequently took charge as head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants for the 2021 and 2022 IPL seasons, guiding them to an impressive third-place finish in both the editions.
