Everyone has had different opinions on whether Jason Holder's catch to dismiss Rajat Patidar during the GT versus RCB clash in Match 42 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, was fair. However, the cricketer himself believes that he was fully committed to going for the catch, and he was happy he could reach the ball and hold on to it.

While he was going full throttle with his focus completely on the ball, Holder's peripheral vision also had Kagiso Rabada running in for the catch. However, the Caribbean cricketer not only judged the ball to perfection but also ensured he did not bump into his GT teammate. The all-rounder said he wanted to make sure that the ball did not fall on the ground.

"Yeah, I did see him [Rabada]. I was just hoping that I wouldn't run into him. Yeah, I don't know who would have won that one, but yeah, I had the ball in my eye for sure, but I just didn't want it to fall on the ground.

"So, just for me, just somebody committing to going for it. Rabada was still in my peripheral, but I thought he was far enough from me that I could make an attempt. My biggest thing was just to get there and give an attempt and hold on to it," Holder said at the post-match presentation.

Notably, Holder got hold of three catches against RCB, accounting for the departures of Patidar, Tim David, and Krunal Pandya. He also picked a couple of important wickets in his four overs, where he gave away just 29 runs, and got the better of Jitesh Sharma and Romario Shepherd, contributing massively in the hosts restricting the defending champions to 155.

When it came to his contributions with the bat, Holder showed his all-round abilities up on display. As the match hung in balance, Holder's 12-run cameo towards the death was crucial, as GT managed to pull off a win in the last over, clinching the game by four wickets and as many balls to spare.
