Former Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who shared the dressing room with Mohammed Shami during the 2012 and 2013 IPL seasons, revealed that India’s pacer came to him to address an issue regarding his seam position. Mahmood played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL due to his British citizenship.

Mahmood, who was Pakistan’s bowling coach till 2019, is currently working as the bowling coach for Desert Vipers in the ongoing International League T20 in Dubai. Vipers have made it into the finals of the inaugural tournament.

“I've to pass on my experience with everyone. I don't really care; sports has no boundaries. I've played in IPL for the Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. I've worked with Shami. I remember when he was having an issue with his seam position and he sent me a text message,” said Mahmood while talking to Hindustan Times.

“I keep in touch with these guys. They come and ask me about their issues whenever I see them (Shami, Bhuvneshwar). I don't mind working with anyone... it doesn't matter if they are an Indian, or Pakistani, or even an Englishman. I'm a coach. Cricket has given me a lot, and it's my time to give back to the game,” he further added.

Mohammed Shami has been one of the main fast bowlers for India over the past few years. In 60 Tests he played, Shami has 216 wickets at a bowling average of 27.45 with an economy of 3.28. The 32-year-old is currently playing against Australia in the first Test in Nagpur of a four-match Test series. As the visitors asked India to bowl, Shami along with Mohammed Siraj gave early breakthroughs for the hosts by sending out both the openers for just two runs. India at stumps on Day 2 are leading are 321/7 and have a lead of 144 runs.
