Dasun Shanka’s form with the bat is a matter of concern ahead of the Asia Cup final against India on September 17 in Colombo. The Sri Lankan skipper has ticked all the boxes when it comes to leadership but with the bat, he has scored only 54 runs in five matches. With other middle order batters firing at the moment, there hasn’t been a massive need for him but nevertheless, the cricketer needs to improve to help his teammates.

Meanwhile, speaking about the matter, the 32-year-old stated that he isn’t focusing much on his batting at the moment. He mentioned that he needs to stay calm as a captain to make important decisions. He also clarified, saying that it is not that he doesn’t want to improve as a batter but he doesn’t think much about it.
“I don't compare my batting when I go to lead the team. My decision-making is more important than being a batsman in the middle. I am not saying batting is not important, but I need to forget whatever happened with the bat.
“I need to be calm and cool whenever the decisions need to be taken. I see myself most of the time as someone who makes good decisions even after failing with the bat, which has helped the team overcome the problems we had. I must thank the selectors for keeping trust in me. They and the coaching staff back me and give me confidence to be that leader to deliver the maximum out of me,” Shanaka was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
