Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have been the centre point of discussion ever since the prior was announced as the new head coach of team India. During his stint as KKR captain, the southpaw had a heated argument with Kohli, as Rajat Bhatia separated them. Later, in IPL 2023, the matter escalated when other players and support staff too got engaged during a spat between two cricketers.

However, in IPL 2024, the scenario changed. Both Kohli and Gambhir were spotted chatting and smiling during the match between KKR and RCB in Chinnawamy Stadium. Can they maintain the peace and work alongside for the betterment of Indian cricket was the biggest question after his appointment and Gambhir answered that swiftly.

Gambhir clarified that the relationship he shares with Kohli is not for TRP. He stated that he has an excellent relationship with Kohli and added that the former India captain is a thorough professional, and a world-class athlete and expects him to go strongly as he is an important part of the team.

“What kind of a relationship with Virat Kohli is not for TRP. My relationship is not public. It's a relationship between two mature individuals. On the field, I am sure we have got to be on the same page. I share a very good relationship with him. I have had a lot of chats with him, but sometimes. We shared messages. It's not important what we discussed after my announcement or before my announcement,” Gambhir said during his latest press conference.

“Just because we want headlines. He is a thorough professional., he is a world-class player. Hopefully, we can work together really well. Our job is to make the country proud together. We are representing more than a billion people. We have got to be on the same page,” he added.
