Aaron Finch, former Australia captain, believes that Mattew Wade will definitely be in the team's plans for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. His comments came after Wade was named the captain of Australia for the upcoming T20I series against India. The two sides will lock horns in five games with the first match scheduled at Visakhapatnam on November 23.

The forthcoming series will offer a good chance for Wade to prove his worth in the T20I side ahead of the likes of Josh Inglis. Meanwhile, Finch feels that Wade can make it to the T20 mega event considering his experience in the shortest format of the game. The former cricketer highlighted Wade's brilliance in the T20 World Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in which Australia emerged victorious.

Notably, Wade, who will turn 36 in December 2023, played one of the notable innings for the Kangaroos in the semifinal of the tournament against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Speaking about the clash, Australia won the toss and invited the Men in Green to bat first. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman produced half-centuries as Pakistan posted 176 in allotted overs. When Australia were reeling under pressure, Wade smashed an unbeaten 41 off just 17 deliveries to steer Australia to the final of the competition.

"I think Matthew Wade will definitely be in the plans for the T20 World Cup. He was brilliant in the T20 World Cup that Australia won in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He has been someone who has been around the leadership group, he has also captained a lot in T20 cricket. He has a fantastic cricket brain, so I think he will definitely be in Australia's plans going forward," Finch said about Wade while speaking to ESPNCricinfo.
