Courtesy of the Indian Premier League, players across the globe are getting a taste of the Indian conditions, which can eventually help them in the upcoming edition of the ODI World Cup. Talking about the defending champions England, some of their key players in the form of skipper Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer and Liam Livingstone, among a few others, are currently playing for different franchises in the IPL and the experience can help them later in the year during the marquee tournament.
Speaking about the same, England pacer Jofra Archer stated that the Three Lions can play anywhere in the world and not just in India. He also pointed out that he hasn’t played any cricket in the month of October and November in India and thus doesn’t know why the pitch will behave. However, the cricketer revealed that they will have all the information they need beforehand.
“I've never played in India in the latter part of the year. We don't know if the wickets will be different, but we'll have all the information that we need beforehand. I think our boys can play anywhere in the world, not just here. We are going to give it our best shot - I can tell you that for sure. Sometimes tournaments don't go your way, but sometimes you just need a little bit of luck, that's all,” Jofra was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Archer talks about how English players have faired in IPL over the years
The England international lauded Jos Buttler and stated that he can’t remember a season in the IPL where the flamboyant batter hasn’t scored over 700 runs. The cricketer also mentioned that things have changed a lot in English cricket as previously, the national stars weren’t encouraged to play in the cash-rich league, but now the ECB promotes their players to gain experience by playing in the IPL.
“Times have changed a lot since then (ECB not allowing England players to play in the IPL). In the last four years or so, the English guys have really done well (in the IPL). Like Jos - jeez, It feels like I can't remember a year that Jos hasn't scored 700 runs! All the boys are doing really, really well. We're putting our mark on the tournament, and hopefully, we can inspire some English kids to want to play in the IPL in the future,” Archer added.
