Former cricketer Irfan Pathan has kept his faith in Rinku Singh, who has been terrific in his short international career so far. The 39-year-old believes that the southpaw has the ability to strike the ball hard and enjoys playing on bouncy surfaces, which he will get in South Africa. Notably, the Aligarh-born batter was exceptional in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia, and following this, he also earned a call-up for the ODI series.

Pathan added that Rinku Singh has done his hard yards in the domestic circuit and spoke about his experience in the shortest format. Notably, the flamboyant batter was sensational for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2023, and after that, he earned his maiden international call-up in the series against Ireland. He reminded that Rinku had to wait for his opportunity for a long time and it is because of his hard work, the cricketer is now enjoying success in international cricket.

“I think he will enjoy the bounce and pace of the ball because he is the kind of cricketer who likes to face fast bowling. I really think he is a guy who is ready. Especially being a left-hander and especially being a free-flowing player will help. He is extremely impressive. When a guy has done the hard yards in domestic cricket and waited for his chance to come good in the IPL, that means he has got a lot of experience. He knows how to take those chances, that will come his way, with both hands,” said Pathan as quoted by Irfan Pathan.

“We are seeing him getting results lately, he is playing for the Indian team and finished a very good game for the Indian team recently, and his name has been doing the rounds for the last little while, but don’t forget that he has been playing first-class cricket and List A cricket for many years,” said Pathan.

Notably, the next two T20Is against South Africa and the three-match series against Afghanistan will be extremely vital for Rinku along with the IPL. If he manages to stay consistent in the next six months, the cricketer will earn a ticket to the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, there’s an intense competition as a lot of cricketers are in the race for the number six spot.
