The Indian team led by KL Rahul made light work of the Bangladeshi batters in the opening Test match of the series in Chattogram, largely due to the brilliance of Kuldeep Yadav with the ball. The talented left-arm spinner grabbed a glittering five-wicket haul against the hosts, restricting them to a paltry score of 150 runs. Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer acknowledged the spinner's talents and feels he should've been part of India's T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer revealed being surprised after the omission of Kuldeep Yadav from India's T20 World Cup squad. The left-arm spinner had impressed in the IPL earlier this year, weaving magic with his wrists for the Delhi Capitals. Jaffer reckoned he will be key for the Indian team in the upcoming series against Australia next year.

“It’s very exciting to see Kuldeep Yadav bowl in this fashion. I had said earlier too that he should have been a part of the T20 World Cup as well. It was unfortunate not to see him play. The way he bowled in the IPL, I was really surprised that he was not a part of the squad. He will play a major role in the upcoming series against Australia," Jaffer told ESPNCricinfo.

He needs to be a part of the attack, especially in Indian conditions: Jaffer

He further stated that the star bowler is not afraid of playing against the big names and is confident about his bowling after a prolific stint in the IPL earlier this year. Jaffer feels Kuldeep is a must in the Indian bowling attack, especially in the subcontinent conditions that assist the spinners. Apart from his five-wicket haul, the 28-year-old also contributed with the bat, scoring a handy 40 lower down the order for the visitors.

“Kuldeep Yadav brings variety to India’s bowling attack. He had great control in the IPL, bowling with a big heart against top batters. He got a lot of confidence from that, given that he had to sit on the bench the previous two seasons. He needs to be a part of the attack, especially in Indian conditions," he added.
