Ravi Bishnoi, an Indian leg-spinner, expressed a wish to play alongside Rashid Khan, the very well-known spin-bowling all-rounder for Afghanistan, in order to develop his collaborative-bowling skills. From the U19s to the seniors, Bishnoi advanced quickly. He idolises two greats of the game- Anil Kumble and Shane Warne as he dreams to reach that level.

Recently, Bishnoi was seen in the Indian squad that faced Pakistan in the Super Four at the Asia Cup 2022. Though it was not a memorable outing for the men in Blue as they were handed their first defeat of the tournament, Bishnoi impressed one and all with his bowling skills and emerged as the most economical bowler for India.

“It was fun bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal as you know he is one of the top 5 spinners right now. If I am fortunate enough, I would love to bowl with Rashid Khan because I will get to learn how to bowl in a partnership,” said Bishnoi, in an exclusive interview on Sports Over the Top on Sports18.

The IPL has supported me a lot: Bishnoi

The youngster earned his place on the national side after putting up some consistent performances at the IPL, where he represented the Punjab Kings for two editions in 2020 and 2021, before being drafted by the Lucknow Super Giants in the recent 2022 edition. In the 37 IPL games, Bishnoi has managed to scalp as many wickets, and the 22-year-old also credited the IPL behind his success.

"The IPL has supported me a lot because in age group cricket everyone is of the same age or maybe younger, but in IPL there is no age limit, senior players, international players so you get to learn a lot when you share the dressing room with these players and you get to bowl to so many legends," added Bishnoi.

Bishnoi, a rookie in the Team India setup, won the man of the match award for his performance against the West Indies on his debut, taking two for 17 from his allotted four overs. He has taken 16 wickets from 10 games since then. He received praise for his courageous performance against Pakistan in the 2022 Asia Cup, but could not make it to the main 15-member World Cup roster as he was named as one of the reserves.
