The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday confirmed Sri Lanka as the host venue for the 2024 U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Furthermore, the apex cricket body also announced the venues for other global ICC events (U19 events) from 2024 to 2027 that include Malaysia,Thailand, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Bangladesh and Nepal as the host countries.

While Sri Lanka are set to host the 2024 U-19 T20 World Cup, the 2026 marquee event will be staged in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Moreover, the Women’s ICC U-19 T20 World Cup 2025 will take place in Malaysia and Thailand, whereas Bangladesh and Nepal will take over as joint hosts for the 2027 U-19 Women's event. ICC confirmed the hosts for all the global events until 2027 in an official press release.

"The hosts were selected via a competitive bidding process overseen by a Board sub-committee chaired by Martin Snedden. The ICC Board accepted the recommendations of the committee who conducted a thorough review of each bid along with ICC management," read the official release.

The pathways for qualification for the 14-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 were also confirmed by the apex cricket body. Ten teams are set to gain automatic qualification to the marquee event without having to play the qualifiers.

Eight highest-ranked teams on the ICC ODI Rankings along with hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe will gain the automatic qualification. The rankings for the eight teams will be announced at a later date by the ICC and the rest four teams will follow the regular qualification via the ICC CWC Global Qualifier.

Furthermore, ICC also confirmed that present BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will be made ‘Chair of the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee’ as he will replace Ross McCollum of Cricket Ireland, who has stepped down from the role. Meanwhile, Pakistan and England are set to take on each other in the summit clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
