Ever since he made his international debut in 2019, Jofra Archer’s career has been marred with injuries. He hasn’t played a single game for England in the last 21 months and as things stand, there’s no update about his possible return to international cricket.
He, however, was part of the England Lions squad and played a three-day match against England's Test squad in the UAE ahead of England’s Test Tour to Pakistan. He is recovering well and is expected to make his return in early 2023, but a cryptic tweet of his has left fans bemused.
On Monday, December 19, Archer mentioned about leaving quietly and fans who are aware of his injury concerns are left worried.
“If I leave quietly I’m not coming back,” the cricketer tweeted.

Archer’s history of injuries
Since making his debut, Archer has suffered multiple injuries and the first of the same came in March 2021. He injured his finger while cleaning a fish tank and was ruled out of England’s Tour to India. In May, the cricketer had to go undergo an elbow surgery and was ruled out for ten weeks.
He was close to making his return but could never make one and in December 2021, he once again had to go through another surgery. He once again started training in May 2022 but soon suffered a back injury that ruled him out for the majority of the year.
Meanwhile, after playing for the Lions in UAE recently, Jofra revealed that he is eyeing to make a comeback to the Test side but will not rush. His aim is to recover properly so that he doesn't suffer any other injury in coming times.
“Obviously to get back to the team is my number one priority but also getting back there as safely as possible. I’d rather take these last few months very seriously, more serious than probably all of the rehab, because once this phase goes right then it can set me up for the next three to four years injury-free,” he said as quoted by The Indian Express.
“I would love to play every game, but I don’t think the physio would let me. Our squad is strong enough that I can play all formats all year round,” the cricketer added.
