Things between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have reached a boiling point ever since Jay Shah on his re-election as the board secretary took a firm stand saying that the Indian players will not be visiting Pakistan for next year's Asia Cup and that the tournament will be played at a neutral venue.

While the BCCI's decision irked a lot of former players from the neighboring country, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has also come forward and expressed his disappointment. Meanwhile, Akram has also said that Jay Shah should have called up the PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and there should have been an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting held regarding the same.

Our cricket board has given a brilliant statement: Wasim Akram

"Our cricket board has given a brilliant statement. India cannot dictate how Pakistan play their cricket and on top of that Pakistan has resumed hosting cricket after 10-15 years. I am an ex-cricketer, sportsperson. I don't know what is happening on the political front", said Akram while speaking on A Sports.

"But, people to people contact is important. If you really wanted to say something Jay Shah Saab then you should have at least phone called out Chairman, held a meeting with the Asian Cricket Council. You should have given your idea. There should have been a discussion", he added.

After  Jay Shah made a sudden decision to change the venue of the 2023 Asia Cup on Tuesday, October 18, PCB in response have threatened to boycott the next year's 50-overs World Cup which is scheduled to be played in India.

India were originally supposed to host the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup before it moved to the UAE keeping in mind the political relations of both the neighboring countries. As far as hosting major tournaments are concerned, Pakistan is scheduled to host the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy where they will be defending their title that they had won in 2017.
