Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has slammed the Indian selectors for not including Sarfaraz Khan in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against Australia starting next month. Kaneria believes that it could affect Sarfaraz’s game and no one in the Indian Team is as consistent as him.

The 25-year-old has shown tremendous form in the last six first-class games for Mumbai. He smashed 556 runs in six Ranji Trophy matches averaging 92.66 with three centuries. He recently scored 125 runs against Delhi.

“If you don’t bring him now, then when? I don’t think anyone has a better form than Sarfaraz currently, even in the Indian team. He will get disheartened if you don’t raise his confidence or spirits. Keep an eye on him,” said Kaneria on his Youtube channel.

Sarfaraz was in the fire mode in the last season as well scoring 982 runs in six first-class games including four centuries at an average of 122.75, while in the preceding season, he scored 928 runs in six games at an average of 154.67, including three tons.

The former spinner from Pakistan also believes that the selectors could have at least included Sarfaraz in the Indian T20I squad in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul to boost the youngster’s morale.

“Sarfaraz Khan, who has scored well in domestic cricket, is being ignored. He should be part of the squad. If you don’t give these players a chance, it’s not right (zyati). He is scripting record after record and making lots of runs,” Kaneria added.

The Men in Blue will be taking on the Aussies under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for the four-match Test starting on 9th February which will be followed by the 3 ODIs starting 17th March.

Indian squad for the first two Tests (vs Australia) - Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Suryakumar Yadav.
