Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has come forward to mediate between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir after the duo had an ugly altercation following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 43 of IPL 2023. Kohli and Gambhir, who have a history of cold relations between them, had a furious face-off when both teams were exchanging pleasantries after RCB’s 18-run win.
The incident is the current hot topic of debate in the cricketing fraternity with several former cricketers condemning the on-field behaviour of the former India teammates. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh, who earlier stated that the incident was not ‘right for cricket’, has now come forward to mediate between the duo.
“I’ll make sure Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir meet and hug each other after the IPL. The fight will end," said Harbhajan while speaking on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness has revealed the exact reason behind the ugly scuffle between the RCB batter and LSG mentor. According to a report in The Economic Times, Gambhir was irked by Kohli as the latter was sledging the LSG seamer Naveen-ul-Haq during the 17th over of the second innings.

Kohli and Naveen once again had a heated conversation while shaking hands after the end of the game. Following the incident, LSG opener Kyle Mayers was having a chat with Kohli and asked him for his hostile behaviour towards the 23-year-old Afghan seamer. While Mayers and Kohli were having a chat, Gambhir interrupted their conversation and took Mayers away with him which added fuel to the fire and both Kohli and Gambhir had an aggressive face-off.
Kohli asked Gambhir what wrong had he done by having a conversation with Mayers? The LSG mentor replied by saying that if he’s (Kohli) abusing his players it’s like abusing his (Gambhir’s) family. Listening to this, Kohli bluntly replied “then keep your family in control,” as quoted by The Economic Times.
