The wicket for the fourth Test in Ahmedabad is showing its affinity towards batters and the glimpses of the same were there for everyone to see when India's wicket-keeper batter KS Bharat unleashed his counter-attacking ability against Australia's Cameron Green in the 134th over.
Having tried tirelessly to grab a wicket by bowling in and around the off stump channel but to no avail, Green tried to use the short pitch bowling ploy against Bharat with fielders stationed on the leg side boundary for a miscued pull or a hook shot.
But Bharat was up to the challenge and gave a befitting response to Green as she smacked him for two consecutive sixes in a row. The first six came on the third delivery of the over as he connected a well-timed pull that sailed over the stands in the direction of deep square leg.
Bharat didn't limit himself to it and matched it with yet another praiseworthy hit as he deposited the next short ball over fine leg for yet another maximum. The next delivery was cut in the direction of backward point as it was short and wide and Bharat placed it behind point for a four.
The three consecutive scoring shots brought the crowd to life and Bharat received a rousing reception after his string of scoring shots.
Bharat displayed his wide array of shots throughout his innings and scored a well made 44 before he fell prey to Australia's premier off spinner Nathan Lyon. Lyon induced an inside edge from Bharat as the latter went for a defensive prod with hard hands and the ball popped up after brushing his front pad and Peter Handscomb accepted an easy catch.
Soon, after Bharat's dismissal Virat Kohli hit his 28th Test ton and ended a long wait. The last time the Indian batting maestro had scored a Test century was back in November 2019 against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in a pink ball Test.
