Australia's premier off spinner Nathan Lyon has added yet another feather to his illustrious cap as he has become the overseas player with the most wickets on Indian soil. Lyon has snared 55 wickets on Indian soil in 11 Test matches over the years and is the leading overseas player with the most wickets in India.

Lyon's latest victim turned out to be KS Bharat who perished at an individual score of 44 and was caught at short leg by Peter Handscomb. He went past England's left-arm orthodox bowler Derek Underwood who snared 54 scalps on Indian soil in Tests.

Underwood played 20 Test matches against India and bagged a total of 62 wickets in the proces including a five-wicket haul. His bowling average against India in Tests was 27.40.

On the other hand, Lyon has played a total of 26 matches against India and bagged a total of 115 wickets and 55 out of those have come on Indian soil. Lyon has impressive figures against India as he has bagged nine fie-wicket hauls and also claimed ten wickets twice in a Test match against India.

His best bowling in an innings is 8/50 and his best match figures are 12/286. Lyon has done well in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy barring a disappointing outing in the first Test of the series when he could just bag a solitary wicket after conceding more than a 100 runs.

He came back strongly in the second Test and bagged a fifer in the first innings to give his side a chance to win the game but the Aussie batter put up a horrid show and India won the Test by six wickets.

He picked it up from his performance in Delhi and matched it with another brilliant display in indore and bagged figures of 8/64 in the second innings to script a historic win for the visitors as they won the Test by nine wickets.

Lyon's experience has rubbed off well on both Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann as the young spin bowling duo has impressed on their first-ever tour to India.
