The nail-biting Test series between India and England has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. The second Test in Hyderabad left cricket enthusiasts on the edge of their seats, witnessing a remarkable comeback from the hosts to level the series 1-1.
In a strategic move, the touring England team are gearing up for a rejuvenating break in Abu Dhabi before the crucial third Test in Rajkot, scheduled to commence on February 15. The team, led by the dynamic Ben Stokes, is set to make the most of the 10-day hiatus to recharge their batteries and fine-tune their game.
Why Abu Dhabi? The squad had initially chosen the city for an intensive conditioning camp before the series kicked off. Now, they are returning to the familiar setting to unwind, with a touch of golf to add to the mix.
The English team's stay in Abu Dhabi ahead of the series saw them honing their skills to counter the formidable Indian spinners. However, the batters were at the receiving end of Jasprit Bumrah's masterclass in reverse swing during the second Test.
Despite a valiant effort in the series opener, England succumbed to a disciplined Indian bowling unit in the second Test, facing a record 399-run chase. The match concluded with India dismissing England for 292 in the second innings, leveling the series with a 106-run victory.
In the opening Test, their batters, particularly Ollie Pope and captain Stokes, showcased their prowess. However, none of the batters could play a big knock in the second match, ultimately leading to their defeat, even though they fought hard in the fourth-innings.
As the English team heads back to Abu Dhabi, they aim to not only strategise for the upcoming Test but also take a breather in the scenic city.
