Indian young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his second double hundred of the ongoing series against England as he played a brilliant knock of 214* (236) on Day 4 of the third Test in Rajkot. The southpaw had earlier completed his hundred on Day 3 but had to retire hurt after he pulled his muscle while celebrating the milestone. The opening batter returned to the crease after Shubman Gill was run out for 91 in the first session and started from he had left off on the previous day.

The 22-year-old shattered several records en route to his second double-hundred and even levelled the world record for most sixes in a Test innings. Jaiswal sent the ball over the ropes 12 times during his knock and levelled Pakistan legend Wasim Akram’s 28-year-old record. Notably, the then-Pakistan skipper also clobbered 12 maximums while registering his highest Test score of 257* against Zimbabwe in 1996.

Along with 12 sixes, Jaiswal also scored 14 fours during his knock as he became just the third Indian to register consecutive double hundreds in Tests after Vinod Kambli (1993) and Virat Kohli (2017). Notably, Jaiswal had earlier scored 209 during the first innings of the second Test in Visakhapatnam.
