Team India now turns its focus towards the T20I series after winning all the three ODIs against New Zealand. The first match will take place at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on January 27. The hosts are without the star batters Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and captain Rohit Sharma but their camp got bolstered after a visit from former skipper MS Dhoni on Thursday (January 26).
The Indian cricket team posted a video of MS Dhoni greeting the players in the stadium on their official Instagram handle. They posted the video with the following caption, "Look who came visiting at training today in Ranchi 🙂."
Dhoni, who hails from Ranchi, was first spotted having a chat with captain Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and another Ranchi star Ishan Kishan. It looked like Ishan and Hardik were trying to explain some funny incident to the former wicketkeeper-batter. Gill seemed to enjoy the discussion while Suryakumar Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and new the entrant Jitesh Sharma looked excited.
Dhoni also shook hands with the coaching staff as everyone around seemed thrilled with his visit. Fans also witnessed a serious discussion between Dhoni and Washington Sundar which looked like the former was giving some advice or tip to the young all-rounder. Sundar is expected to start in the playing XI tomorrow with Axar Patel missing the series due to personal reasons.
With Kohli, Rohit, and Rahul missing this series, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are expected to open the innings in the first game. Prithvi Shaw is included in the team after a long break but the youngster is likely to warm the bench in Ranchi. The young pacers Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, and Shivam Mavi are all expected to start but Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are likely to battle for the spinner's spot.
