The Women in Blue are set to take on Australia Women in the second T20I at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and it is expected to be a mouth-watering contest. The visitors chased down the target of 173 in the first T20I with 11 balls to spare and purely dominated the hosts to kick-start the series. However, a comeback is expected from the young Indian side which boasts of some new faces too.
Beth Mooney was the star in the batting line-up for Australia as she scored an unbeaten 57-ball 89 and helped her side to a comfortable victory. The Indian bowlers had no answers to the Australian assault and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will back the side while implementing some strategical changes.
The Indian side will expect more from the much renowned players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues who failed in the first T20I. All in all, an exciting game is on the cards with the second T20I especially with the first game defeat for the hosts.
Pitch Conditions
The first T20I saw the batters enjoying the conditions at the DY Patil Stadium and it could be a similar case in the upcoming game. It is going to be tough to defend runs at the venue and the skipper winning the toss will be looking to chase down the score.
Probable Playing XI for IND-W vs AUS-W 2nd T20I
India Women
India Women are likely to stick with the same playing XI for the second T20I as chopping and changing personnel isn’t going to help in the longer run. Rajeshwari Gayakwad is the bowling option available from the bench however it might affect the balance of the side.
Probable Playing XI
Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Devika Vaidya, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Anjali Sarvani, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur Singh
Australia Women
Australia Women will not mind going in with the same playing XI unless there's a forced change due to an injury concern. The middle order is yet to be tested due to the brilliance from Beth Mooney in the first T20I while the bowlers did do a decent job despite Megan Schutt being a touch expensive.
Probable Playing XI
Alyssa Healy (c & wk), Beth Mooney, Tahlia McGrath, Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, Grace Harris, Annabel Sutherland, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Kim Garth, Megan Schutt
