In a twist of fate at the Wankhede Stadium on Day 3 of the one-off Test, Australia's Beth Mooney was dismissed in an unusual manner. It was a moment that left the experienced left-hander, who has been a thorn in India's side on numerous occasions, red-faced and scratching her head.

The incident unfolded in the 12th over when Sneh Rana bowled a full ball, promptly played by Mooney to Richa Ghosh at silly point. Debutant Richa, known for her skills behind the stumps, exhibited swift awareness by picking up the ball and releasing it quickly, resulting in a bizarre run-out. However, Mooney, seemingly caught in the moment, had nonchalantly strolled out of the crease without keeping track of the ball.

By the time Mooney realised her situation, the damage was done, and the Indians were jubilant over their unexpected wicket as Rcha's sharp awareness shone through, contrasting starkly with Mooney's lapse.

The Mooney run-out marked a strange trend in the ongoing Test, with opening batters falling victim to unorthodox dismissals. In the first innings, Mooney was at the receiving end when a mix-up with Phoebe Litchfield resulted in a Diamond Duck for the latter.

Meanwhile, India continued to assert their dominance, finishing with a lead of 157 runs at stumps on Day 2. Australia, having wrapped up the Indian innings at 406, started the morning session positively. However, Mooney's dismissal became the unexpected turning point, disrupting what seemed like Australia's session to claim control.

As of the current writing, Australia, in their second innings, have scored 121 runs, losing two wickets. Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry are currently at the crease, with scores of 36 and 29, respectively.
