Australia cricketer Ashton Agar is heading home to feature in Sheffield Shield and the Marsh Cup for Western Australia. Ashton Agar was included in Australia's 18-member squad, which is currently touring India for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

However, Ashton Agar didn't get any game in the first two Test matches, as Todd Murphy was opted for the first Test, and Matt Kuhnemann in the second. Being overlooked in such a manner, had Adam Gilchrist also terming Agar's treatment as 'insulting'.

Australia's sub-continent nightmares continue

It is to be informed that Ashton Agar in recent times is one of the many to have left the Australian squad to fly back home. Josh Hazlewood had intially returned due to his recovery from an Achilles injury, while David Warner has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a fractured elbow. Also, skipper Pat Cummins has returned home due to family health issues, though he is stated to return before the commencement of the third Test.

Agar on the other hand, will be returning to Australia completely fit and ready to play. He was one of the four spinners picked to play the Test series in India, yet was completely overlooked in the first two Tests. With the domestic season progressing in Australia, the Australian management decided to release the 29-year-old from the squad to join his domestic team and feature from March 2, 2023.

The Australian management has been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism due to their poor team selection and absolute mismanagement of players. Even Adam Gilchrist had lashed out for not treating Ashton Agar with grace and wasting his talent completely by just unneccessarily benching him and looking for other players.
