India and Australia are all set to clash against each other in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Friday (September 23).

Australia bagged a 1-0 lead with a four-wicket win in the opening clash in Mohali. The visitors successfully chased a record 209-run target as the Indian bowlers were left gasping for breath.

Indian management decided to rest their key pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the opening fixture and it cost India the game. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya smashed fifties to guide India to a big total of 208 runs while batting first. But bowlers struggled to defend the total and conceded 55 runs in the last four overs. Axar Patel took three wickets while conceding only 17 runs but the rest struggled to create an impact.

Australia, despite missing their star players in David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Starc, almost dominated every aspect in the first game. Cameron Green smashed a quick fifty while opening the innings and Matthew Wade finished the game with his unbeaten 45 runs off 21 balls.

India last played a T20I match in Nagpur in 2019 when they beat Bangladesh by 30 runs. In four T20I matches here, India have won two and lost two so far.
