India women's cricket team wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia has claimed that she was robbed in the London team hotel during her stay for the bilateral series against England recently. Taniya Bhatia took to the microblogging site Twitter to share the unfortunate incident and claimed of burglary.

The tour concluded on a triumphant note for the visitors as they white-washed the hosts 3-0 in the ODI series. However, the third and final ODI at Lord's triggered a lot of controversy when India's Deepti Sharma ran out Charlotte Dean at the non-striker's end when the latter was backing up too much.

Taniya Bhatia questions ECB's security

The Indian wicketkeeper batter revealed that her belongings were stolen from her hotel room. Furthermore, Bhatia was upset with the security arrangements at the hotel.

The Indian wicketkeeper lashed out at ECB and expressed her displeasure during her stay. In a series of tweets, she wrote-

"Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of the Indian Women's Cricket team. @MarriottBonvoy @Marriott So unsafe."

'Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket's preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well. @Marriott @BCCIWomen @BCCI."

The hotel responded to the cricketer’s tweets and asked her for the details to look into the matter. Their tweet read-

"Hi Taniyaa, we are sorry to hear this. Please DM us your name and the email address you made the reservation with and the exact dates of your stay, so we can look into this further."

It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. On the other hand, the England Cricket Board is yet to put out a statement regarding the same. The wicketkeeper-batter was part of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team during the recent tour to England but did not feature in any of the matches.
