Delhi Capitals continued their winning momentum in the ongoing IPL 2023 as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets on Saturday, May 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. After opting to bat first, RCB posted a good total of 181/4 in the first innings on the back of half-centuries from Virat Kohli (55 off 46) and Mahipal Lomror (54* off 29).

In the second innings, DC successfully chased down the target with 20 balls to spare courtesy of a breathtaking knock by Philip Salt (87 off 45).

Speaking after the match on his side’s clinical victory, DC captain David Warner revealed that they had planned to take on RCB’s premier bowler Mohammed Siraj early on. Siraj has been exceptional with the new ball and has picked 15 wickets in the season so far and hence the plan was to drag his length back.

"Amazing. I thought it was a par score, the ball was skidding. But the way we came out led by Phil Salt paved the way. Our intention was to take on Siraj, he's been bowling well and taking wickets early. His wickets have been bowled or LBW so we wanted to drag his length back,” said Warner during the post-match presentation.

Warner further credited his bowling unit for hunting in packs in the absence of Anrich Nortje who had to fly back to South Africa due to a family emergency.

Ishant is leading the pack with Khaleel: David Warner

"Credit to the way the bowlers bowled, Anrich is not there but Ishant is leading the pack with Khaleel. And Kuldeep and Axar as well have been brilliant. It is all about momentum, we are finding the right balance at the right time. Now we go to Chennai and try to get a performance there, I know it will be tough," he added.

Following their win, Delhi have maintained their ninth position on the points table with four wins from ten matches. They will next face Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, May 10 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The David Warner-led side has won four out of its last five matches and will look to continue its brilliant run against CSK.
