Shubman Gill is one of the rising stars of international cricket as he’s been enjoying a great run of form across formats. In the ongoing IPL 2023, playing for Gujarat Titans, Gill has given great starts opening the innings for his team and scored 228 runs in six innings at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 138.18. The Punjab-born batter has cemented his place in the Indian team as he’s scored centuries in all three formats as an opener.

Recently, in a Q&A interaction, the 23-year-old revealed his dream opening partner to be the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Gill further revealed his favourite IPL moment to be GT’s inaugural IPL win in 2022. Led by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat won the IPL 2022 on their debut defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final. Out of the 14 league matches last year, GT won ten games and later won the qualifiers and final of IPL.

When asked to describe Hardik Pandya's captaincy in one word on Jio Cinema, he described it as ‘electric’. He further shared his favourite knock from his IPL career i.e 96 off 59 balls which he played against Punjab Kings in 2022.

Mohit Sharma set up a seven-run win for GT in recent encounter

The GT opener was dismissed for a duck against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 22 as his side registered a narrow seven-run win. After opting to bat first, GT finished their innings on 135/6 courtesy of a half-century from Hardik Pandya (66 off 50) and a brilliant 47 off 37 by Wriddhiman Saha.

In the second innings, LSG got off to a great start as openers KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers added 55 runs for the first wicket in 39 balls. Krunal Pandya and Rahul further added 51 off 48 balls for the second wicket. However, after Pandya’s dismissal, things went haywire for LSG as they required 12 off the last over with seven wickets in hand.

Mohit Sharma turned out to be the man with the Golden arm for Gujarat as he just gave away four runs and picked up two wickets to set up a miraculous victory for his side. After beating LSG, GT will next face Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, April 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
