In an interesting match, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 10 runs at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, New Delhi. MI won the toss and chose to bowl where DC scored 257 in the allotted 20 overs courtsey Jake fraser McGurk's 84 runs off just 27 balls with an amazing strike of 311.11. This season has been an enthralling ride so far where the teams are scoring more that 200 runs.

No bowler could stop Jake Fraser- McGurk's fiery innings that helped DC reach 89 runs in just 5 overs. It looked like McGurk was on his way to the fastest century but Piyush Chawla's spell dismissed the in form DC batter. Delhi Capitals put up good score on board for Mumbai Indians, Tilak Varma's 63 off 32 balls. skipper Hardik Pandya's 46 off 24 and Tim David's 37 off just 17 balls helped MI to score 247 in the second innings against DC.

On the other hand, Bowlers from both the teams were being smashed. It looked like MI players were frustrated with McGurk's innings as no he did not spare any bowler. Delhi Capitals' Rasikh Salam and Mukesh Kumar both picked 3 wickets in their 4 overs whereas MI's Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla and Mohammad Nabi could only take 1 wicket each. It appeared as if it was Jake Fraser- McGurk's day as nobody could stop him from scoring 89 runs.

1. A horror for the bowlers

At the Arun Jaitely Stadium, 504 runs were scored in 40 overs. It feels like carnage is an understatement. But how can one encourage the bowlers to bounce back and play in two or three days? To create better pitches that benefit bowlers, BCCI and the pitch curators must collaborate. Regretfully, cricket is becoming more and more of a batter's game. It is important to see how the bowlers are not getting anything this season and batters are being unstoppable.

2. No stopping Jake Fraser- McGurk

Fraser-McGurk was unstoppable as he smacked Hardik Pandya for two fours and two sixes, and in five overs the Capitals  reach to 89 without a loss. However, neither Fraser-McGurk nor the Capitals scored a century during the powerplay.  Fraser-McGurk made sure he did not miss out by smacking a six off the last ball.

3. Tilak Varma's fiery knock ends in vain

In the match against DC, Tilak Varma played an extraordinary cricket where he scored 63 off 32 balls. He was unstoppable in the game as no bowler could send him back to the pavillion. But Unfortunately, he was run out courtsey substitute Sumit Kumar's prompt reaction in Mukesh Kumar's over.

This game is becoming more and more closer. It (the difference) used to be a couple of overs, now it’s becoming a couple of balls. Because of the kind of games and how the bowlers are under pressure, we backed ourselves to do it. If I had to pick something out, we could have taken a couple of more chances in the middle overs. The left-handers could have probably gone after Axar a little bit, it’s something we missed out in terms of game awareness. It was quite amazing the way he (Fraser-McGurk) batted, he took calculated risks, he played the field really well. It shows the fearlessness of youth. (If he would’ve done something different at the toss) Not really.

We were pretty happy with 250 on the board but with impact sub it is getting difficult each and every day. Definitely I can do that (come up to the stumps) but the bowler also should be confident, but with a batter like David was walking down and today it worked. He (Fraser-McGurk) has been amazing since the first day and this is what you want from a younger player, he's getting better and better with each game. The chances (of making it to the playoffs) are increasing day by day, but we are taking it one game at a time.

Man of the Match Jake Fraser-McGurk said:

It was pretty nervous. I had looked at his (Bumrah's) footage all day. But in the game everything goes out of the window and you just have to see the ball. It is good to test yourself against the best bowler in the world. You have to ride the waves of highs and lows. These innings are good for my confidence and for my team. From outside you don't know the level of the competition, this is such a higher level than the other leagues and it is amazing to be a part of it.
