Lucknow Super Giants: 50 runs from 5.2 overs
Chasing 177 to win, KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock began by attacking the CSK bowlers. Tushar Deshpande was smashed for 19 runs in two overs. Skipper Rahul then went after Deepak Chahar in the last over of the powerplay to put fifty runs on the board for the hosts.
Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory – 54/0)
A total of three pacers varied their pace and speed of the ball with good effect. Rahul in particular though seemed up for the challenge as he hit four boundaries and two sixes in the first six overs.
First Strategic Timeout (84/0 from 9 overs)
Matheesha Pathirana dropped an easy chance to give the Proteas opener a lease of life early in the 9th over. That was the only chance created as the duo seemed to break no sweat while chasing a tricky target set by CSK.
KL Rahul Half-Century from 31 balls
Rahul decided to give himself and his fans a belated birthday present. The 32-year-old coasted to his 23rd fifty to put his team in the driver’s seat.

Lucknow Super Giants - 100 runs from 10.5 overs
Once he reached his fifty, Rahul didn’t let the intensity drop as he cut Ravindra Jadeja for a four. Some shoddy work from Mustafizur Rahman brought up the 100 for LSG in the 11th over, much to the annoyance of Ravindra Jadeja.
Quinton De Kock: Half-Century off 41 balls
Just like his opening partner and skipper KL Rahul, veteran Quinton De Kock also played a very good innings. Despite starting slow the left-handed batter picked up pace and took full toll of some wayward CSK bowling.
LSG: Second Strategic Timeout (146/1 from 16 overs)
Quinton De Kock was the first wicket to fall for LSG as he was out to Mustafizur for 54 runs. This got Nicholas Pooran to the crease who proceeded to smash Pathirana over his head for a huge six to signal his intentions.
LSG: 150 runs from 16.1 overs
The very first ball after the second time-out saw Nicholas Pooran hit Mustafizur for a four. Lucknow Super Giants were happily dancing as the 150 was raised with 27 runs needed from 23 balls left.
