POTM Abhishek Sharma said:
“In the bowling we felt it's a bit slow wicket. We knew if we take the powerplay on, we can go with the flow after that. We had a chance to prepare well before this IPL. Big scores do matter (individual scores), but I went with the flow today. Special thanks to Yuvi paaji, Brian Lara and my dad for this,” Sharma said.
Winning skipper Pat Cummins said:
“Different soil. Slowed up a little bit as the game went on. Shivam was hitting it well against the spin. Thought we'll take chance with off-cutters. First thing is always to get the points. Wouldn't want to be bowling to him (Abhishek) and Trav Head at the top. Crowd was crazy tonight. When MS walked out, it was as loud as I've ever heard,” Cummins said.
Losing skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said:
“I think to be honest, it was a slow pitch, They bowled well in the back-end, kept the game in control and didn't allow us to capitalize. I thought we did well in the beginning (of the match), but they came back well later. It was a black soil pitch, so we expected the pitch to be slower, but it became slower and slower, and they used the boundary size well. We conceded too many in the batting PP, one dropped catch and one expensive over. Still, to take them to the 19th over was a great effort. I thought anything around 170-175 would've been a good total for us. There was a bit of dew towards the end, but Moeen got the ball to spin even in the 15th-16th over. So I don't think the pitch changed a lot during the course of the game,” Gaikwad said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are all set to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 18 of the ongoing IPL 2024. The high-octane clash is scheduled to take place at SRH's backyard, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday, April 5.
After a disappointing start to their campaign with a loss against Kolkata Knight Riders, SRH mounted a stunning comeback by crushing Mumbai Indians (MI) in their subsequent match. Fascinatingly, SRH, led by Pat Cummins, set a new IPL record by scoring 277 runs against MI, the highest total in the history of the tournament. However, their momentum faltered in their third game against Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT).
In their match against GT, SRH won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite facing a challenging battle against GT bowlers, SRH managed to put up a reasonable total of 162 runs. Mohit Sharma was the pick of bowlers for GT, claiming a crucial three-wicket haul. However, SRH couldn't defend their score as the Titans chased down the target with five balls to spare.
CSK, on the other hand, have made an excellent start to their campaign, winning their first two games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and GT, respectively. However, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side faced a setback in their clash against DC, losing by 20 runs in Visakhapatnam.
Chennai conceded 191 runs after Rishabh Pant and Co. decided to bat first upon winning the toss. Pant and David Warner provided significant contributions for DC, both scoring half-centuries. Matheesha Pathirana stood out for CSK, finishing with exceptional figures of 3/31. Despite their efforts, CSK's batting line up struggled to shine, managing only 171 runs in reply.
The upcoming clash between SRH and CSK promises to be an exhilarating one. These two teams have crossed paths in 19 matches previously in the IPL, with CSK holding the upper hand, having secured victory in 14 encounters, while SRH have emerged triumphant on five occasions in the history of the cash-rich league.
