"I feel even in the first innings it was slightly difficult and second innings because of the dew they were able to play a few shots, but we pulled off a great game today. I am just taking it as an extra opportunity to try and win a game for my team. After a few balls, I felt this is that kind of a wicket where you can go hard everywhere and wanted to build on the momentum. Too many great contributions in the second innings and I am actually shocked to be recieving this award. As a batter, I found it tough when they took the pace off and our bowlers executed really well today," Sai said.

"The way the boys held their nerves with dew coming in, it was outstanding. The way our spinners bowled made sure we are always in the game. It's all about holding your nerves. He (Sudarshan) has been a revelation for us. We just wanted to build on the pressure and wait for them to make mistakes. I thought that was a good score, but we definitely left at least 15 runs there, it was hard to hit those short balls as the wicket got a bit slow towards the end," Gill said.

"Obviously, we backed ourselves to chase those 42 runs but it was one of those days when we see the score quite less compared to what it could have been in five overs, I think we lost little bit of momentum there. It feels good to be back because this is one stadium where you can enjoy and feel the atmosphere quite lively and obviously the crowd was full and they got a good game as well. (On Tilak not taking the single vs Rashid) I think Tilak felt that that was a better idea at that point of time, I completely back him, not an issue, 13 games to go," Pandya said.

The newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya is known for his antics both on and off the field. As a skipper, the cricketer has got his hands on the coveted title once, playing for Gujarat Titans back in 2022, and then ended up as runners-up in the edition that followed. Thus, going by his captaincy mettle, Mumbai Indians chose to replace Rohit Sharma with Pandya as their skipper for 2024.

During the match against Gujarat Titans, Hardik was setting the field while bowling, and asked ex-skipper Rohit to go on the boundary line for fielding. Now since the Nagpur-born isn't used to fielding in the deep, the moment went instantly viral on social media. Some fans even trolled Hardik heavily for his act on the field, while some said it to be a brave decision.

"Feels exciting to captain in a stadium where I have enjoyed a lot of success. The support has been tremendous. I was a week prior before this game, played a practice match. We have got three players making debuts for GT - Umesh, Johnson and Omarzai," Gill said.

"We are gonna bowl first. Looks like a decent track, might get better if dew comes. Feels good to be back. My birthplace is in Gujarat, very grateful to this state. My cricketing birth happened in Mumbai, happy to be back. It's been two weeks we started the camp. Boys are eager to perform. We had wonderful practice matches. The excitement is a different feeling. We have four quicks, three spinners and seven batters. Making sure all the departments are looked after," Pandya said.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first.

"Looks a beautiful playing surface. 63 metres, 66 metres and 73 metres downtown. Six-hitting ground. It's a bit bare in the middle, green patches as well. It's an even surface, some cracks, but this is full of runs. The batters are going to enjoy," reckons Ian Bishop and Brian Lara.

Spencer Johnson and Azmatullah Omarzai are all set to make their IPL debuts while Umesh Yadav will play his first match for Gujarat Titans.
