Mumbai Indians (MI) are battling it out against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 48 of IPL 2024 at the Ekana Sports City Stadium, Lucknow. LSG are on the 5th position of the IPL 2024 points table. On the other hand, MI who are on the 9th position are looking desperate for a win. 

LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl against the Mumbai Indians at their home ground. Compared to last year, the surfaces at the Ekana Cricket Stadium appear to be better for batting. Compared to 161 total for the previous two seasons, including this one, the average first innings score has surpassed 170+ this year. The total has exceeded 150 nine times out of ten, and seven of those nine times have seen totals of 170 or higher.

LSG vs MI 1st innings highlight, Match 48

1st Wicket: MI 8-1 in 2 overs

LSG's Mohsin Khan dismissed the Hitman Rohit Sharma on just 4 runs. Unfortunately, right after scoring a four, the birthday boy could not show his class game against LSG as Khan got him when MI were on just 8 runs in two overs. He took a drive but Marcus Stoinis took a lovely catch at the short extra cover. 


Powerplay overs (0.1 to 6) MI 28/4

MI found it difficult to manage a decent run rate in the powerplay overs as they lost 4 crucial wickets too early. They could only score 28 runs in the first 6 overs of the game. LSG's Naveen-ul-Haq took down MI skipper. While appealing for LBW, MI skipper Hardik was run out with the help of Ravi Bishnoi's throw. Golden duck for Pandya and unfortunately he had to walk back to the pavilion. 


Mumbai Indians 96/5 in 15 overs 

Courtesy Nehal Wadhera, MI managed to score 96 as they lost early wickets in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Nehal Wadhera hit boundaries in LSG's star bowler Mayank Yadav's over. Nehal Wadhera impressed everyone with his innings, he scored 46 runs but LSG's Mohsin Khan sent him back to the pavilion in his over. 


End of the innings- MI scored 144/7 in 20 overs 

Lucknow Super Giants' star bowler Mayank Yadav cleaned up Nabi on the first ball of his last over after his comeback. Tim David's innings of 35* runs off just 18 balls helped MI reach 144 runs at the end of the allotted 20 overs against the Giants. His doubles supported MI to give LSG a target of 145 runs. At the end of the innings Tim David and Gerald Coetzee were on the crease for Mumbai Indians.
