In the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Mumbai Indians were facing table-toppers Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to field first and scored 179/9 in their 20 overs. A superb showing from the comeback man Sandeep Sharma derailed the opposition as he gave away 18 runs and took five key wickets.

Take a look at the 2nd innings highlights for RR vs MII at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Powerplay : RR - 63/0 -  First Strategic Timeout

In reply, Rajasthan Royals started off aggressively as both Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up 63 runs inside the powerplay. Despite two great overs from Jasprit Bumrah, the batters took their chances and got rewarded for that as well. The other bowlers once again were expensive and the onus was set to be on the spinners to get them the wickets.

Second Strategic Timeout: RR - 160/1 - Second Strategic Timeout

After a brief rain break, Piyush Chawla got the breakthrough as he dismissed Jos Buttler in the eighth over. Skipper Sanju Samson joined Jaiswal at the crease and took the innings forward for the hosts. The young opener turned out to be the aggressor for the Royals as he dominated the Mumbai Indians spinners.

There were a few chances that came towards the Mumbai Indians but both Nehal Wadhera and Tim David could not get hold of the ball when required the most. The fielders missed a great chance to send both the players back to the pavilion. Even the ever-reliant Jasprit Bumrah could not muster much as he could not dismiss any of the batters.

Innings end: 183/1 after 18.4 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal made a staggering hundred today at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as he led the chase for the table toppers. In the clash between the two teams last year at the Wankhede stadium, the opener notched his first IPL hundred and it shows how much he loves playing the Mumbai Indians. In the end, the Rajasthan Royals completed the chase with eight balls to spare and fittingly Jaiswal finished things off.
