IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 2nd innings highlights against SRH in Match 30

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs in a high-scoring game to win their fourth game of IPL 2024.

For the second time this season of IPL, the Sunrisers Hyderabad side created history. Pat Cummins and his side scored the highest IPL team total going past their own previous best of 277 versus Mumbai Indians.

Travis Head scored a brilliant century off 39 balls while Heinrich Klaasen continued to pound the RCB bowlers. At the end of the innings, SRH had scored a massive 287/3 which is the second-highest team total in all of T20 cricket.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 50 runs in 3.5 overs.

Just like the first innings, the first over was relatively quiet. RCB opener Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli then went for leather and smashed the SRH bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory – 79/0)

Royal Challenger Bengaluru batters did what the SRH Batters did in the first six over. The two star openers had the home team jumping for joy as they sent a strong message to the opposition with a strong start.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: First Strategic time-out (80/1 from 6.2 overs)

Mayank Markande silenced the Chinnaswamy Stadium with just his second ball. The young SRH spinner rattled the stumps of Virat Kohli to dismiss him for 42 to deal a huge blow to the home team.

Half-Century: Faf Du Plessis (Off 23 balls)

The fall of Virat Kohli didn’t deter the RCB Skipper as he scored his 2nd successive half-century. With a boundary off Jaydev Unadkat, the veteran batter brought up yet another IPL half-century.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 100 runs in 7.5 overs

It seemed like RCB wanted to mirror Hyderabad while chasing the huge score. The 100 came four balls later than the visitors but the home team came up with a tough fight. Will Jacks was run out for 7 after being run out at the non-striker's end.

Royal Challenger Bengaluru: 150 runs from 12.4 overs

After a strong start, Pat Cummins swung the fortunes around for his team. The SRH skipper got two wickets in two balls to more or less seal the game for his side.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Second strategic Time-out (187/6 from 15 overs)

Dinesh Karthik came to the crease and started from where he left it off in Mumbai. The veteran star played some outstanding shots to breathe new hope into the fans, Pat Cummins though poured cold water on such hopes with the wicket of Mahipal Lomror.  

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 200 runs in 15 overs

Runs continued to flow but the required rate kept climbing as Dinesh Karthik did his best to put up a fight. The 38-year-old smashed T. Natarajan for a six which traveled 108 meters which is the highest of this season’s IPL. 

Half-Century: Dinesh Karthik (Off 23 balls)

IPL 2024 has seen Dinesh Karthik turn back the clock with some vintage batting. The 38-year-old got to his second consecutive fifty as he reached the mark with a six off Pat Cummins.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 250 runs in 18.3 overs

Nothing stopped the Sunrisers Hyderabad batters as they upped the tempo after the second time-out. Heinrich Klaasen fell for 67 runs off 31 balls but Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad took the total past the 250 mark.

End of the Match: Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 262/7 from 20 overs

Dinesh Karthik played a marvellous knock to top score for the home side with 83 runs. The veteran's show though wasn't enough as RCB slipped to their sixth loss in seven games,. The loss now puts their aspirations of a top-four spot under serious cloud. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 25 runs to go to third in the table.
