Two-time IPL (Indian Premier League) champions Kolkata Knight Riders recently became the first side to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2024. Taking on Mumbai Indians in the 60th game of the tournament at Eden Gardens, KKR put in an excellent performance and registered their ninth win of the season.
As KKR secured the win, veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine achieved yet another milestone in his playing career. In his spell of three overs, Narine conceded just 21 runs and took one wicket. The one wicket saw him become the third cricketer to take 550 or more wickets in men’s T20 cricket.
Dwayne Bravo, another West Indies all-rounder, leads the list with 625 wickets, followed by Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan with 574 wickets. As for Narine, the veteran needed just one wicket to enter the 550 club, and he did not have to wait long to achieve his goal. Throughout the IPL 2024, Narine has been in exceptional form, taking 15 wickets at an economy of 6.73 in 12 matches.
