IPL 2024 season saw yet another game where the 200 run-mark was breached. Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 206/7 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

Virat Kohli (51) and Rajat Patidar (50) were the two leading run scorers for the visitors. Cameron Green scored 37 not out from 20 balls to give the much-needed push towards the end of the innings. Jaydev Unadkat was the best bowler for SRH with figures of 3/30 from four of his four overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 50 runs off 4.4 overs

For the first time this tournament, the SRH batters found themselves in trouble. Travis Head was caught by Karn Sharma off Jacks for 1. Yash Dayal then got the wicket of Abhishek Sharma for 31. Swapnil Singh then got the big wicket of Aiden Markram for 7.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory – 62/4)

Swapnil Singh was struck for two sixes in his opening over. The first was by Nitish Reddy during a free hit. This was followed by Heinrich Klassen hitting the left-arm spinner for a six before giving a simple catch to Cameron Green to leave the hosts reeling. When the powerplay was over it was Shahbaz Ahmed and Nitish Reddy who were batting.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: First Strategic time-out (85/5 from 9 overs)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers were all over SRH batters with wickets at regular intervals. The onus was on Abdul Samad and Shahbaz Ahmed to take the team to a fighting total before launching a final assault.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 100 runs from 11 overs

Karn Sharma rocked the SRH team once again when he had the wicket of Abdul Samad for 10. Pat Cummins came to the wicket and hit two sixes off two balls to get the score past 100 at the end of 11 overs. At that stage, SRH still needed 103 runs from 9 overs left to play.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Second Strategic Time-Out (132/7 from 15 overs)

Barring a brief fight from Pat Cummins who scored 31 runs from just 15 balls, none of the SRH batters were up for a fight. By the time the second time-out was taken the home team needed 75 runs from 30 balls to more or less be ruled out of the contest.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 150 runs from 17.1 overs

Shahbaz Ahmed was the only man to put up a fight with the bat as he took his team past the 150 mark. A six off Lockie Ferguson was enough to put some respectability into the SRH batting on what was an ordinary day with the bat in hand.

End of the match: Sunrisers Hyderabad 171 for 8 from 20 overs

It was a tame end to the game as the SRH batters finished on 171 to lose the game by 35 runs. The home team who have been amazing during the course of the tournament so far would be disappointed with some of the shots played by their batters today to give RCB a few cheap wickets. Royal Challengers Bengaluru aren't complaining though as they will be basking in newfound confidence with 5 more matches left to play
