Josh Inglis is set to bolster Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, with the Australian wicketkeeper-batter expected to join the squad ahead of their clash against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 4. Inglis has been unavailable so far due to personal commitments, having scheduled his wedding in mid-April. He tied the knot on April 18 and is expected to spend some time away before traveling to India.
Despite missing a chunk of the tournament, Inglis remains a valuable addition. He had an impressive outing last season with Punjab Kings (PBKS), scoring 278 runs at a blistering strike rate of 162.57. Although released ahead of the 2026 auction, LSG showed strong faith by acquiring him for INR 8.6 crore. If he becomes available from May 4, Inglis could feature in the final six league-stage matches, depending on team combinations.
Currently, LSG’s overseas lineup includes Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran, though the team has not consistently fielded a fourth overseas player. South African all-rounder George Linde has featured in two of their last three matches, offering a spin option. Meanwhile, Pooran has struggled significantly with the bat, managing just 51 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 80, raising concerns about his place in the XI.

Adding to their challenges, fast bowler Anrich Nortje exited the LSG camp last week under unclear circumstances. He played only one game this season, against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 1, where he went wicketless, conceding 39 runs in his four overs.
At present, LSG sit eighth on the points table with just two wins from six matches. Their victories have come against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 22, a crucial encounter as they look to revive their campaign.
