The Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Delhi Capitals in Match 31 of the 2026 Indian Premier League by 47 runs, notching up their third consecutive win at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
It was the Abhishek Sharma show in Hyderabad, as the opener's unbeaten 135 off just 68 balls, and some brilliant hitting at the back end from Heinrich Klaasen, took the Sunrisers to a mammoth 242/2 in their 20 overs.
The Sunrisers opener put on a 97-run opening stand, and as has been the theme this season, Abhishek was the wrecker-in-chief. He reached his half-century in just 25 balls as Travis Head bided his time. Head fell for 37, but Abhishek motored along and reached his century off 47 balls, putting on a 79-run stand with Ishan Kishan. Kishan was run out for 25, which brought Klaasen to the crease and he took off in the last few overs, finishing unbeaten with 37 runs off just 13 balls.
In response, the Capitals batters were unable to get the chase going. Pathum Nissanka fell in the third over to the debuting Dilshan Madushanka, as Nitish Rana joined KL Rahul in the middle. The pair put on an 86-run stand off just 45 balls, but the Capitals were yet unable to catch up with the daunting total.
Rahul fell to Sakib Hussain, while Nitish Rana fell to Eshan Malinga in the following over. Malinga then had David Miller bowled off the next ball, leaving the Capitals reeling at 107/4 in the 11th over. Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi put on a 59-run stand, but it was in vain as Eshan Malinga returned to pick up two more wickets, finishing with match figures of 4/32.
The Capitals finished their innings at 195/8, handing the Sunrisers their third consecutive win. Harsh Dubey picked up three wickets in the final over of the game, finishing with figures of 3/12.
The victory is the Sunrisers' third consecutive one in the IPL, and with four wins, they find themselves in third place on the points table. The Capitals, meanwhile, have lost their third game this season and find themselves just outside the playoff spots in fifth place.
