Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a comprehensive win against the Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday, April 21.
Axar Patel decided to bowl first after winning the toss. However, there wasn't much assistance on the surface, which the bowlers could exploit. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put the Sunrisers in a position of strength with a 97-run partnership off 53 balls. After the former was dismissed for 37, skipper Ishan Kishan joined Abhishek in the middle.
Abhishek took the attack to the bowlers with his exemplary ball-striking. Ishan Kishan didn't get much of the strike, but whenever he did, he made his presence felt. The left-handed duo forged a 79-run stand off just 35 balls, much to the joy of the home fans. Abhishek was dropped when he was batting on 86 in the 14th over by Nitish Rana. The Punjab batter made full use of the lifeline by punishing the Delhi bowlers.
After Kishan departed for a 13-ball 25, Heinrich Klaasen walked out to the middle and slammed 37 off just 13 balls. This impactful cameo helped Sunrisers go from a decent total to a match-winning score. In the end, they finished with 242/2 in 20 overs.
In reply, Sunrisers got an early wicket in the third over, as Dilshan Madushanka dismissed compatriot Pathum Nissanka. However, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana kept Delhi's hopes alive with a 45-ball 86-run partnership.
However, Delhi lost three wickets at the score of 107, as Sunrisers wrestled the momentum back in their favour. Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi forged a 59-run stand off 33 balls to keep Delhi's hopes alive. However, they had too much to do in the end. The Orange Army restricted the visitors to 195/9 in 20 overs to win the match by 47 runs.
