The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in Match 45 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Sunrisers were bundled out for 165 after choosing to bat despite a fiery start from Travis Head. The Knight Riders spinners spun a web around the home team, picking up five wickets off the ten scalps. Varun Chakravarthy finished with figures of 3/36, while Sunil Narine picked 2 for 31.

The Knight Riders started their chase in fine fashion with Finn Allen scoring a sublime 13-ball 29 to give them a brilliant platform before Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi stitched together a partnership of 84 runs off 66 balls. Raghuvanshi reached his half-century, scoring 59 off 47 balls before falling in the end. Rinku Singh led the Knight Riders to their third victory on the bounce with an 11-ball 22.

Here are the top highlights from Match 45:

1) Head continues his form

Coming off the back of a brilliant 30-ball 76 against the Mumbai Indians, Travis Head was once again on song with a 28-ball 61, which made Sunrisers dominate the batting innings. The Aussie opener scored nine fours and three sixes, stitching important partnerships with Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, which saw the Sunrisers make a brilliant start before an eventual collapse.

2) Chakravarthy back at his best

The Knight Riders spinners tightened the screws on a dusty and dry Hyderabad wicket after the Sunrisers had gotten off to a blistering start. Chakravarthy, who finished with figures of 3/36 in his four overs, was the chief architect of their collapse. Head took him on early, but the spinner replied by dismissing him. He picked up the wickets of debutant R Smaran and Aniket Verma to prompt the collapse.

3) Powell's stunning catch to dismiss Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the Sunrisers' key batters all season, and was coming off a match-winning 30-ball 65 against Mumbai Indians. The Knight Riders needed something special to send the South African back early, and that came in the form of a stunning one-handed blinder from Rovman Powell.

Klaasen swatted away a short-ball dug in deep from Cameron Green towards square leg, but he was unable to get enough elevation on it. Rovamn Powell completed a one-handed grab while running in from mid-wicket.

4) Sunil Narine’s 200th IPL wicket

Sunil Narine is a bona fide IPL legend. The West Indian mystery spinner has been one of the most reliable customers for the Knight Riders, and in Hyderabad became the first overseas bowler to pick up 200 wickets in the IPL. A trademark Narine beauty saw Salil Arora lose his off stump, piling misery on the Sunrisers’ batting. Narine became the third player in the IPL to pick up 200 wickets in the tournament.

5) Finn Allen's blistering cameo

Returning to the squad for this game, Finn Allen started the chase for the Knight Riders in fine fashion, as the New Zealand opener scored a 13-ball 29 to get the three-time champions off to a brilliant start in their chase of 166. His innings was laced with three fours and two maximums, as he took apart Pat Cummins early on in the innings. His innings set up the platform for the Knight Riders early in the innings, ensuring the pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi could take the innings on at their pace.

6) Raghuvanshi's sublime half-century

Angkrish Raghuvanshi came in with a platform set by Finn Allen and ensured that he took his team over the line. The batter, who has been one of the Knight Riders' better players this season, scored a brilliant 59 off 47 balls, taking the game away from the Sunrisers. His innings was laced with five fours and two sixes and he stitched an 84-run stand with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, which set the Knight Riders up for the win.
