The mystery surrounding Suryakumar Yadav’s career in the longest format of the game is yet to get solved. The flamboyant batter was selected for the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier in the year and in the absence of Rishabh Pant, he even made it to the playing XI to accelerate if required. However, after he failed to do so, the team management dropped him but he remained in their scheme of things.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born cricketer was dropped from the World Test Championship squad and now, he couldn’t make it to the Test team, which will play a couple of matches against the West Indies. Seeing the mystery around him getting selected and then getting dropped, former India international, Aakash Chopra, pointed out regarding his future in the longest format of the game.
The 45-year-old also questioned the national selectors regarding the Indian quick, Arshdeep Singh. The youngster did a terrific job for India in T20Is but barely got an opportunity to show his class in the 50-overs format. Notably, Chopra was expecting him to play against the West Indies, but to his surprise, the ace pacer couldn’t make it to the squad.
“And what’s the deal with SKY’s intermittent selection for Tests…gets picked…gets dropped. Is he considered for the longest format or not? And why no Arshdeep for ODI? Is he fit?,” Chopra tweeted on Sunday.

Rahane bags Vice Captaincy, Pujara dropped from India Test squad for West Indies tour
Talking about India’s Test squad, veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane has been reappointed as the vice-captain of the team while senior pro Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped. Despite performing really well in the County Championship Division II for Surrey, the cricketer failed to step up in the WTC final and that played a massive role in his getting dropped. Next up, Pujara will be playing Duleep Trophy and after that, he may once again join his county team.
On the other hand, Arshdeep is expected to make his return to the T20I side as the Men in Blue are planning to revolutionize the T20I squad with more young cricketers.
