'It happened in the heat of the moment' - Avesh Khan expresses regret over wild celebration against RCB at Chinnaswamy

Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan made the headlines after his eye-catching celebration following a dramatic conclusion to an IPL 2023 encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Indian pacer recalled the incident in a latest interview, reflecting on his emotional outburst.

26-year-old Indian pacer Avesh Khan, known for his exploits with the ball, helped Lucknow seal a thrilling victory against Bangalore in one of the matches of the tournament. Avesh, who sneaked a single off the last delivery of the match to clinch the game for his side, threw his helmet on the ground while celebrating the victory. 

His celebration triggered a meme fest on social media, with the Indian pacer being targeted for the nature of his outpour. The India international recalled that incident in his latest interview, lamenting his antics. Avesh admitted that the wild celebration was pure adrenaline and feels 'sad' for his behaviour.

“Yeh social media mein mera mahool bana rehta hai and helmet incident thoda jyada hogaya tha. I realised later that I shouldn’t have done this. It just happened in the heat of the moment. I now feel sad that yaar yeh sab cheez nahi karna tha,” Khan said to Indian Express.

The 16th edition of the IPL witnessed the bowlers, especially the pacers, endure a hard time in the middle as teams breached the 200-run mark quite frequently. Despite a lowly return in the wickets' column, the 26-year-old pacer feels that he had a desired impact with the ball this season as he fulfilled the role of a death bowler for the side.

“If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one, it went the way I wanted too. However, even though the season didn’t go well as per my standard, I maintained my economy rate, which is less than 10. I bowl crucial overs 4 or 5th over and later in death,” he pointed out, explaining how this season has witnessed more 200 runs games and all bowlers have a higher economy rate.
