The Women's Premier League auction is scheduled to take place in Mumbai at the Jio World Convention Centre on Monday, February 13. After 1525 participants signed up for the inaugural auction, 409 cricketers have been shortlisted for the same.

Out of the 409 players, 246 are Indians and 163 are foreigners, eight of whom are from associate countries. There are a total of 202 capped players, and 199 uncapped players who will be seen at the auction.

Indian team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in a video shared by BCCI Women on Twitter mentioned how the WPL is going to be game-changing for women's cricket. She said, "I think it'll be a game changer not only for Indian women's cricket but for world cricket in general because it's happening for the very first time."

Smriti Mandhana, India's Vice-Captain also talked about how they have grown up watching IPL and how WPL is going to be massive. She said, "It's a very big thing and we all are excited for the Women's Premier League auction. We have always seen the Men's IPL and how the auction happens. We all are very excited for it and how it's going to unfold."

Natalie Sciver-Brunt, England's batting all-rounder has shown her excitement for the WPL auction too. She said, "I think it's going to be the next big thing for women's cricket. These are the stepping stones that women's cricket needed. We have been catching upto the men's game in the past decade. It seems like a very big move forward. In terms of how big it will be, people are making assumptions and I believe it will be bigger than what they think."

Jemimah Rodrigues also spoke about how the tournament and the auction can be good for the game. She said, "You never know what's going to happen, what exciting talent and what exciting matches we are going to have.

From there, the confidence we are going to get. More than anything, just doing well there and then coming out doing well while wearing the India jersey. That's going to help our team go to a new level. Can't wait for the matches to start."
