After dominating in two out of three matches in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian team will go into the fourth Test with a clear intention to emerge victorious, and confirm their berth in the World Test Championship Final against the Australian side at the Oval, London, which is to be played from June 7, 2023.

The skipper of the Indian Test team, Rohit Sharma, recently talked about the side’s preparations ahead of the all-important ficture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is to be played from March 9, Thursday.

"More than skills, it’s about how you mentally prepare," as Team India "can’t change a lot of things in three weeks," Rohit Sharma said in a pre-match press conference.

"Any Test you play, leave the conditions out of it. Find ways to score runs—that’s the talk within the group. Find your way to score runs no matter where you play, Maybe for the first time, tosses lost have meant games won in this series. We didn’t bat well enough in the last game, that’s what cost us the game," he added.

A big miss: Rohit Sharma on Rishabh Pant’s absence

Across 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, star Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has been a major absentee for the Indian team. He was not selected in the squad against Australia after he suffered injuries in a car accident recently.

Skipper Rohit Sharma also talked about Pant’s absence in the squad and the inclusion of KS Bharat in the team. "Slightly unfair to judge KS Bharat on these kinds of wickets. Need to give him some room. I told him not to worry, he will get enough time to prove himself," the Indian skipper continued.

"(Rishabh) Pant is a big miss, we know what he can do with the bat. And keeping them, he has done so well. Since Pant was not available, we got Ishan. Even when Ishan Kishan gets his chance, we won’t drop him after two games," he concluded.
