‘It’s an emotional connect’ - MS Dhoni reflects on his relationship with Chennai Super Kings

Former Indian wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni is undoubtedly a legend of the game. The 42-year-old has already retired from international cricket, but despite his age, Dhoni still lights it up for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL (Indian Premier League). Having led the side to five IPL titles, Dhoni has become a cult hero for CSK fans.

Despite being 42 years old, Dhoni still continues to compete in the IPL for his fans and supporters who have shown their love for him over the years. Recently, Dhoni came forward to talk of that same relationship with his fans and revealed that his connection with CSK is an "emotional one" and that he is not just a player who comes every year and plays and goes back home.

“My connection with CSK it’s an emotional connect. It is not only like a player who comes plays for a couple of months and then goes back home,” MS Dhoni said on the Dubai Eye 103.8 YouTube channel.

Speaking of CSK, the five-time champions failed to make it to the knockout rounds of the ongoing IPL 2024. The side faced RCB in a do-or-die clash in the tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 18.

Batting first, RCB posted a total of 218 runs and CSK had to score 201 to maintain their run rate and reach the playoffs. However, RCB’s bowling attack had CSK in shambles. Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni did put in valiant efforts with the bat during the run chase. Jadeja went unbeaten on a score of 42 runs in 22 deliveries, with Dhoni scoring 25 runs in 13 deliveries. CSK managed to score 191 runs in 20 overs, losing the game by 27 runs.
