Game 9 of the ODI World Cup 2023 featured a clash between India and Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 11. The clash began with Afghanistan winning the toss and opting to bat first.

Coming out to bat, Afghanistan got off to a good start to the game as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran looked to be in the flow. However, the party was quickly spoiled by ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Dismissing Zadran at a score of 22 runs in the seventh over, Bumrah celebrated in a special way. The 29-year-old pointed to his head and celebrated like Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford. The picture of the same has been making the rounds all over social media.

India look to register second win in a row

Getting off to a good start against Afghanistan, team India will be hoping that they will be able to register their second win of the ODI World Cup 2023 in their second game. The side is coming into the clash on the back of a resounding win against the Pat Cummins-led Australia.

After bundling out the Aussies at a subpar total of 199 runs, where Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah impressed with the ball in the first innings, team India got off to a horrid start to the run chase as Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer were sent packing for ducks.

However, the resilience of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli helped India come out of the game as the winner. Rahul scored 97* runs in 115 deliveries, whereas Kohli amassed 85 runs on the board as India defeated Australia by six wickets.

After a brilliant win against Australia, it could be interesting to see how team India takes on Afghanistan and if they can continue their winning run.
