Jofra Archer, Ollie Robinson extend contracts with Sussex as pacers enter decade of association

Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson have extended their contracts with Sussex Club for one more year. Archer has been an integral part of the club having represented them since 2016, picking 181 first-class wickets in total. He has 44 T20 wickets and has represented England in whites 13 times pocketing 42 wickets. But the pacer is widely known for delivering the match-winning Super Over in the World Cup 2019 final against New Zealand.

Though his career was marred by injuries he was on and off the field in diligence. The right-arm pacer was the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup 2019. Archer returned to action after two years hiatus due to injury through a Second XI game for Sussex before joining the England Men’s T20 squad at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He picked 10 wickets as England succumbed to India in the semi-final.

“I am delighted to have signed another contract with Sussex, Hove feels like home to me, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” said Archer as quoted by Sussex.

We are going in a great direction as a team: Robinson

On the other hand, Robinson has played 97 first-class games and joined Sussex in 2015. The pacer has 423 first-class wickets at an average of 21.11. He is the key player for the club representing them perpetually in County Championship and T20 Blast this season. Speaking of his County Championship 2024 stint, he has 27 wickets at an average of 24.33. He has represented England in 20 Tests with 76 wickets at an average of 22.92.

“I'm very pleased to extend my contract at Sussex for another year, the cricket we've played this year shows that we are going in a great direction as a team. I am looking forward to being a part of that for another year and to seeing us push on again as a Club,” said Robinson.
